UN mission to Chad and Central African Republic signs status agreement (22.03.2008)

(Quelle: UN News) The United Nations Mission in the Central African Republic and Chad (MINURCAT) has signed a status of mission agreement with Chadian authorities that will establish the legal principles under which the operation will run in the strife-torn African country. … The agreement covers the activities of the mission and deals with MINURCAT funds and property, as well as the safety and security of mission personnel and their privileges and immunities.

Chad and Sudan: another new peace agreement, this one to be signed at OIC summit (11.03.2008)

Chad says 700 killed in February rebel attack (07.03.2008)

Déby had said 400 civilians were killed in Ndjamena during the fighting a month ago. He told French television station France 24 the new figure included soldiers and those killed in the nearby town of Massaguet.

Dutch to send 60 troops to join EU force in Chad (03.03.2008)

(Quelle: Reliefweb) The Netherlands will send around 60 troops to join a European Union security force deploying in eastern Chad and the Central African Republic, the Dutch Foreign and Defence Ministries said on Friday. The deployment will begin mid-April and will last about a year, the ministries said in a joint statement. Another five soldiers will be stationed in headquarters in Paris and the eastern Chadian town of Abeche.
