On 30 and 31 August, alumni of the last three editions of the "Peer Coaching Mediation and Diplomacy" events conducted jointly with the Federal Foreign Office since 2016 met with four internationally renowned German experts in the field of peace mediation: Dr. Norbert Ropers, director of the Peace Resource Collaborative (PRC) at the Chulalongkorn University and senior research fellow at the Institute of Peace Studies of the Prince of Songkla University in Thailand, Prof. Dr. Stephan Breidenbach, business mediator and university professor at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt/Oder, Dr. Annette Weber, senior fellow at the German Institute for international and Security Affairs (SWP) and Dr. Oliver Wils, director of the  Berghof Foundation's MENA programme.

Thematic focus of the event comprised of methods and micro-skills for effective negotiation and mediation processes as well as process design for complex mediation processes. In addition, participants exchanged views on the identification of entry points for potential German mediation engagement on the basis of concrete case examples. State Secretary Andreas Michaelis joined the retreat for a lively discussion on Germany's role in the field of peace mediation.
