Workshop for Federal Foreign Office on including a gender perspective in project work

What are ways to include a gender perspective into daily project work of employees of the Federal Foreign Office? This question and similar ones were subject of a workshop, which had been carried out by ZIF on November 2 in the Foreign Office. 12 participants representing different departments and desks jointly worked through a role-play and focused thematic discussions to develop tangible steps on how to include a gender perspective into project proposals submitted for funding to the Federal Foreign Office.

This workshop took place against the backdrop of the desire to give a concrete shape to the implementation of UNSCR 1325 and subsequent ones in Germany’s Foreign and Security Policy. This is even more important since Germany is determined to implement the stipulations of UNSCR 1325 and its seven subsequent resolutions through the "Action Plan of the Federal Government on the Implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security for the Period 2017 to 2020".

Using examples from the field of water management and the rule of law, the participants worked on challenges and indicators for success, which helped to shape strategies for action.

Anna von Gall and Volker Jacoby conducted the workshop in the framework of the project entitled "Implementing UN SCR 1325", a project implemented by ZIF since the beginning of 2017.
