Smart ideas for Afghanistan’s future

In order to develop common recommendations for transition in Afghanistan, ZIF has invited 30 Afghan and international experts to Berlin for a workshop which was held from November 9-11, 2011.

In preparation of the international Bonn Conference on Afghanistan (Dec. 5, 2011), the aim of the workshop was to formulate concrete and realistic measures to be taken in the next two years – instead of accumulating another general wish-list. The very interactive and discursive Enteqal workshop focussed on the “how” of the process: afghan civil society activists and government representatives discussed this issue at ZIF together with researchers from US think tanks, German Universities and International Crisis Group, a Pakistani General, an Indian Journalist, representatives of the EU and UN Missions in Afghanistan (EUPOL / UNAMA) and the German government as well as other transition experts.
