ZIF at the 17th IAPTC Conference

29.11.2011

As in earlier years, the German “Training Platform for Peace Operations” was jointly represented at the 17th annual IAPTC conference by staff of the Command and Staff College of the German Armed Forces in Hamburg, the UN Training Centre of the German Armed Forces in Hammelburg, the Federal Police Academy in Lübeck, and ZIF. This year, the conference was held in Carlisle (Pennsylvania, USA).

The International Association of Peacekeeping Training Centres (IAPTC) was founded in 1995 by the Pearson Peacekeeping Centre of Canada. The aim of its annual conferences is to facilitate the exchange of information between training providers worldwide.

This year’s conference focussed on “Evolving Peace Operations: Challenges, Requirements and Possibilities for Education and Training”. Special guest was Jean-Marie Guehenno, former United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations.

Following the conference, the delegation visited the United Nations Headquarters in New York and the Permanent Mission of Germany to the UN.
