Second Workshop on Scenario Planning

„The Future of Peace Operations in the Year 2025“

ZIF in cooperation with the Addis Office of the Institute for Security Studies hosted the second scenario workshop in Addis Ababa on November 28-29, 2011.

This series of scenario workshops is part of ZIF’s project „Peace Operations – Fit for the Future“. By looking ahead and deriving scenarios for peace operations of the year 2025, we want to open up new perspectives and stimulate dialogue among policy-makers and practitioners.

The interdisciplinary group of experts and practitioners from various backgrounds and organizations thoroughly discussed possible future developments of twelve so-called shaping factors (e.g. fragile statehood) which will influence peace operations in the future.

The third step will be taken in spring 2012 when those possible developments of factors will be brought together to form different visions of the future.
