Since its founding in 2002, the Center for International Peace Operations (ZIF) has been conducting core and specialization courses for civilian personnel in international peace operations and election observation missions of the United Nations (UN), the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the European Union (EU) and other international organizations. By training and preparing more than 1,300 German and international civilian crisis management experts for their assignments in such operations, ZIF has substantially contributed to the German Government’s goal of strengthening national as well as international civilian crisis prevention, peacekeeping and peacebuilding capacities.
ZIF is currently expanding the scope of its training programs and opening them to national and international candidates from related fields such as development cooperation and humanitarian assistance.
ZIF seeks to further increase the number of international course participants, particularly from states experiencing conflict and from the region of Africa, and will continue its close cooperation with European and international training institutions as well as the UN, EU and OSCE, whose headquarter and field staff regularly participate in ZIF trainings.
The following pages provide detailed information on the training objectives, target groups, selection criteria, course curricula, and schedules.
