Training of Trainers: Integrating Gender into Peacebuilding Training

As soon as we have confirmed dates for this course, they will be posted here.

Course description

The integration of a gender perspective in pre-deployment trainings for experts deployed in peace operations or in post-conflict areas is a prerequisite for effective peacebuilding. It is desirable to go beyond having gender as a separate module in a training, but to mainstream it throughout all topics of the courses.

This course is offered by ZIF in cooperation with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to enable trainers/experts to successfully integrate gender into their courses, modules, or presentations on relevant topics for peacekeeping or peacebuilding. A thematic focus is placed on Disarmament, Demobilization & Reintegration (DDR), Mediation & Negotiation, Rule of Law & Human Rights, and Election Observation. A trainer manual that accompanies the course was published and can be downloaded here.

The course was developed in cooperation between GIZ, Dr. Cordula Reimann from CORE, and ZIF. Dr. Reimann is the trainer for the course and the course will be held in English.
