Leadership-Workshop for Leaders in International Peace Operations

Leadership in international peace operations is particularly challenging: Working in a fragile conflict environment with security restrictions, unpredictable political circumstances and team members from various cultural and professional backgrounds requires exceptional leadership qualities.

On 10 and 11 February, 2020, ZIF organized a leadership workshop to discuss these issues. Guided by Almut Wieland-Karimi, Executive Director of ZIF, and Volker Jacoby, Head of Training, ZIF, a diverse group of leaders from the UN, EU, and OSZE participated in a peer coaching where they dealt with successes and complex matters regarding their leadership tasks.

Advisory input was given by Farid Zarif, former Head of Mission of UNMIK (Kosovo) and UNMIL (Liberia), Thomas Bagger, Head of the Foreign Policy Division, Office of the Federal President, as well as Michael Roth, Member of the German Bundestag, Minister of State for Europe at the Federal Foreign Office and Chair of ZIF’s Supervisory Board.
