Peer Coaching “Mediation Diplomacy” with the EEAS


Already for the third time ZIF and the mediation support team of the EU External Action Service (EEAS) conducted a high-level peer coaching seminar for EEAS Heads of EU Delegations and national ambassadors to the EU Political and Security Committee (PSC). Entitled “Mediation Diplomacy in the Context of EU Common Foreign Policy,” the workshop provided a platform for participants to engage with their peers in strategic reflection on peace mediation as an instrument of EU foreign policy.

Participants were guided by well-known international mediation experts Natalia Mirimanova, Pierre-Yves Monette, Guenther Baechler und Richard Paisley sharing their vast knowledge and experiences in mediation process ranging from the Donbas to Sub-Saharan Africa. Particular attention was given to the integration of climate change issues into mediation processes.

Said Djinnit, former Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for the Great Lakes Region joined the group as a special guest for an exchange on opportunities, success factors and challenges in international mediation engagement.<xml> Normal 0 21 false false false DE X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 </xml>
