ZIF Resumes Standby Deployments to UN-OCHA

After a break of almost five years, ZIF has resumed secondments to operations of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN-OCHA). The basis for this deployment is the Standby Partnership Agreement concluded in August 2019 for the provision of humanitarian experts for UN-OCHA missions. On 2 December, the first ZIF expert took up his post as Humanitarian Affairs Officer at the UN OCHA Office in Tehran.

At the request of the Iranian government, UN-OCHA is coordinating international assistance dealing with the devastation caused by heavy rainfall and flash floods in Iran in March 2019 that affected some 10 million people.

In addition to the agreement with UN-OCHA, ZIF, on behalf of the Federal Foreign Office, is currently negotiating standby partnership agreements for seconding German personnel world-wide to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the United Nations World Food Program (WFP).
