Course Description

The three-day humanitarian briefing is the pre-deployment training for humanitarian experts in ZIF’s Expert Pool. It is intended for experts with many years of humanitarian experience. Knowledge and methods for a successful deployment within the framework of the Standby Partnership Mechanism are imparted.

For participants, the humanitarian briefing is part of the final step for admission to the ZIF Expert Pool, in addition to the successfully passed competency-based interview and the completed Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT). Upon acceptance for the pool, experts can be selected for a standby position by ZIF’s UN humanitarian partner organizations.

The course is conducted in German.

Learning Objectives

During the course, participants:

  • prepare for a deployment to a humanitarian UN partner organization;
  • get to know and understand the Standby Partnership Mechanism and the deployment procedure for humanitarian operations;
  • learn about humanitarian topics in order to be able to quickly take up tasks when deployed;
  • get an overview of ZIF's service packages (Duty of Care) and learn about the Code of Conduct;
  • strengthen their professional and social skills for short-term missions in humanitarian crises

Target Audience

The course is intended for experts with excellent oral and written German language skills (C2 level) who have many years of humanitarian experience and would like to support a humanitarian operation. Please note that applicants generally have to go through the selection process for a humanitarian profile in the ZIF Expert Pool first. Information can be found here.
