Countering Organised Crime and Terrorism

Peace operations in post-conflict areas are regularly confronted with a large number of illegal activities that can be attributed to organised crime. This can include human trafficking, arms and drug trafficking, illegal trade in natural resources, for example, or the smuggling of migrants. These problem areas are managed through police operations, promotion of rule of law and the protection of civilians. Peace operations also make a civilian and police contribution to combating violent extremism.
