Media

The development of an independent and pluralistic media landscape is a central component of support to democratisation of post-conflict societies. This field of activity aims to create the institutional, technological and legal framework for the work of independent media. In addition, press and publicity work in peace operations serves to inform a local and international audience about measures and approaches employed by the peace operation.

You can expect to be involved in the following tasks:

  • Press relations and publicity;
  • Monitoring and analysing international and local press;
  • Creating media and information strategies in support of the mandate;
  • Writing daily statements;
  • Planning and implementing information campaigns;
  • Supporting mission leadership in public appearances and interviews;
  • Training mission staff in media relations;
  • Advising on and supporting the (re-)building of an independent and pluralistic media landscape;
  • Advising on the drafting of legislation;
  • Providing support for independent media programmes.
