ZIF, together with UNICEF, UNHCR and with the support of the CDAC network, organized a training on Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP), which took place from 15-20.10.2023 at Schloss Ziethen in Kremmen.

As organizations should fulfill their responsibility and accountability to the population affected by a crisis, AAP specialists ensure that concerns, perceptions and worries of the population are taken into account when planning and implementing programs and measures. The main objective of the training was to build the knowledge of participants who already have experience with AAP and to acquire practical skills to build capacity for AAP coordination in the field. The training integrated elements from different contexts and types of crises. Cornerstones of the training included core concepts and principles of AAP, communicating with local populations, developing action plans, and identifying AAP tools, resources, and capacities. The participatory training also included a one-day simulation. In addition, participants had the opportunity to share their experiences and different practices of AAP capacity strengthening.

This training was the first training cooperation between ZIF and UNICEF and UNHCR, the partnership agreement was signed with UNICEF only this year. Among the 28 participants were also four members of the ZIF Expert Pool.
