In Brussels, the team leader Human Resources, Julia Gellermann, Maximilian Schoppa (Desk Officer NATO/UN), Tobias Pietz (Deputy Head Team Analysis) as well as Zoran Vasic from the German Foreign Office held several discussions and organized a contingent meeting on September 20. The aim of the contingent meeting is to directly exchange with the currently more than 20 secondees in Brussels. The majority of them work for the European External Action Service (EEAS).

Afterwards, ZIF together with the Berlin Representation in Brussels invited to a dialog and networking meeting. After a welcome by Wolf Plesmann, Head of the European Department at the Berlin Senate Chancellery, the participants discussed with Dr. Benedikta von Seherr-Thoß, Managing Director for Peace, Security and Defence in the EEAS, and Katja Dominik, Head of the EU Mission in Niger. The discussion focused on the future of CSDP missions in Africa, the balance between defense and international crisis management of the EU as well as the current situation in Niger and Ukraine.

ZIF not only deploys directly to peacekeeping, humanitarian and election observation missions, but also seconds experts to headquarters of international organizations. In addition to Brussels, for example, a large contingent works at the OSCE Secretariat in Vienna.
