In this multifaceted, tailor-made training program, 16 prospective diplomats from the Mediterranean region had the opportunity to learn about the basics, topics and instruments of peace mediation - such as process design and conflict analysis. Through interactive role plays and a simulation on the final day, participants were not only introduced to the subject area, but were also able to deepen their insights into specific areas of peace mediation in a very practical way. The classroom program was complemented by virtual sessions in which international experts shared their experiences in peace mediation. Special thematic focus was placed on the topic of Youth, Peace and Security with reference to inclusive mediation.

In addition to the ZIF training team, Natalia Mirimanova, Senior Mediation Expert, accompanied the program as a resource person. Edita Tahiri, former Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo and Kosovo's Chief Negotiator at the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue, and Anastasia Fusco, Advisor on Youth and Security in the Office of the OSCE Secretary General, were invited as international experts.
