Launch der Studie

ThinkTanks und politische Entscheidungstragende diskutieren die Zukunft von Friedenseinsätzen beim Launch der ZIF-Studie. Gemeinsamer Launch der ZIF-Studie mit der SWP

At today’s joint launch event, ZIF together with the German Institute for International and Security Affairs presented two new publications based on recent in depth research. Under the title of “Reinventing peace operations in the midst of geopolitics and complex crises", almost 30 representatives from the Berlin policy and think tank community debated current challenges through the lens of two new publications: The Political Economy of Civil War and UN Peace Operations and ZIF's White Dove Down? Peace Operations and the Zeitenwende.

The need for international crisis management is apparent all around us, but the political space for multilateral responses is narrow. At the same time, missions operate in environments where local, national, and region-wide war economies interact with the political agendas of conflict actors. Through a lively discussion and commentary by Amelie Klußmann and Klemens Semtner (Heads of Division, German Federal Foreign Office), participants explored how the high demand for conflict management can translate into an effective range of peace operations.
