Safety training at the UN Training Centre in Hammelburg

The environment of peacekeeping and humanitarian missions has become increasingly insecure and dangerous over the past decades - especially for civilian personnel who have no prior security-related training. Therefore, since 2017, the so-called "Hostile Environment Awareness Trainings" (HEAT) have been part of our obligatory mission preparation, which civilian experts have to attend as part of our staff welfare before leaving for a mission.

We offer such HEAT courses several times a year, the last one this year from 21 to 25 November 2022 in cooperation with the Bundeswehr UN Training Centre in Hammelburg. The safety training was preceded by two days in Elfershausen, where the topics "Safety and Security" and "Stress Management" were dealt with. 18 German and international participants, among them members of the ZIF Expert Pool, representatives from development cooperation, the police and the media, took part in this last HEAT course 2022 in Hammelburg.
