ZIF and SIPRI organize UN-EU Expert Dialogue

| ZIF news

Supported by the Permanent Mission of Sweden and the EU Delegation to the United Nations in New York, SIPRI and ZIF organized an Expert Dialogue on "New Agenda, New Compact - New Opportunities for a Strategic UN-EU Partnership". Almost 50 participants from member states, the UN, the EU, think tanks and foundations discussed the impact of the current geopolitical situation on the UN and EU missions and how the cooperation between the two organizations could be renewed and deepened in the future. Nearly 20 years after the adoption of the most important foundational document, the UN-EU Joint Declaration, both organizations are facing major challenges. In mid-July, the UN Secretary General will arrive in Brussels for a high-level exchange with the EU leadership on joint international crisis management. ZIF and SIPRI are already discussing possible follow-up to the Expert Dialogue and a short outcome paper with recommendations.
