Three peacekeepers injured in CAR

Three Tanzanian peacekeepers  serving on the United Nations’ mission in Central African Republic (MINUSCA) were injured on Thursday, when their vehicle struck an unidentified explosive device.

EU suspends military training in Central Africa over Russian mercenaries

The EU Training Mission in Central African Republic (EUTM RCA) says it has advised, educated and trained more than 3,400 members of CAR’s forces since 2016 as they fight to stabilise a country facing multiple rebel insurgencies. … “We would need the guarantee that the soldiers trained by EUTM are not employed by the Wagner mercenaries,” an EUTM RCA spokesperson told Reuters. “For the moment, we don’t have a response.”

10 blue helmets injured during attack in Central African Republic

According to MINUSCA, the blue helmets were part of the Egyptian Constituent Police Unit and were shot by elements of the presidential guard. Two were seriously injured.  The peacekeepers arrived on November 1 at M'Poko International Airport, as part of the periodic rotation and deployment of troops in the country and were heading to their base, when they came under heavy fire from the presidential guard.

UN experts urge CAR to drop Russia’s Wagner group

UN experts Wednesday urged the Central African Republic to cut ties with Russia’s Wagner group, accusing the private security force of violent harassment, intimidation, and sexual abuse. Wagner personnel working closely with the CAR army and police force have harassed peacekeepers, journalists, aid workers, and minorities, they said in a joint statement.
