Georgia ruling party head announces electoral reform after protests

Georgia’s ruling party has announced electoral changes in line with demands of protesters who have taken to the streets of the capital Tbilisi in the past days. … Changing the electoral system from a mixed to a proportional system from 2020 was one of the demands of thousands of demonstrators who have rallied in the Georgian capital since June 20.

Georgia protesters return to streets despite speaker resignation

Thousands took to the streets of Georgia's capital once again after anti-Russia protests the night before left hundreds injured. Russia's Vladimir Putin has also suspended flights to Georgia over the situation. For a second night in a row, thousands of people protested outside Georgia's parliament on Friday, demanding early parliamentary elections.

EU report: Georgia making clear progress on its reform agenda

In 2018, Georgia confirmed its strong commitment to political association and economic integration with the EU, as highlighted by its government's high-level meeting with European Commissioners in November and substantial progress in delivering on its Association Agreement commitments. These conclusions were made in the 3rd Association Implementation Report on Georgia, released on 31 January.
