Dr. Astrid Irrgang
About
Dr Astrid Irrgang has been Executive Director of ZIF since 2023. She began her work at ZIF in 2012 as Head of Human Resources. She became Deputy Director in 2014.
Astrid Irrgang's previous professional roles were in the field of academic management (Head of Department of Administrative Services for Students at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main) and the promotion of gifted students (German National Academic Foundation). She successfully founded the Berlin office of the “Studienstiftung” in 2010, which she headed for many years. In 2008, she worked for several months as a visiting officer in the Office of the Secretary General at NATO headquarters in Brussels. She completed a traineeship at the Federal Agency for Civic Education (Bonn).
Astrid Irrgang studied Modern and Contemporary History, Literature and Psychology at the Universities of Freiburg im Breisgau and Warsaw. She was awarded her doctorate with ‘summa cum laude’ for a thesis on the history of mentalities during the Second World War.
