Calendar ZIF Training Courses

The course aims to equip participants with all the knowledge and skills needed for successful deployment as a Short-term Election Observer (STO). The course follows the standards of the international organisations EU and OSCE/ODIHR.

The Comprehensive Core Course (CCC) (formerly CGTPO) prepares experts for deployment to UN, OSCE, or EU peace operations. The course follows the ZIF Civilian Expert Concept and builds the professional, personal, social and methodological skills required to successfully work in a peace operation.

Taking stock of the last 20 years, the course reviews and discusses the experiences and lessons learned from the application of gender-sensitive approaches in the context of EU, UN, OSCE and other peace operations. This course allows participants to reflect on and further develop the tools and skills they need to work in the area of gender, peace and security.

Conducted by the Bundeswehr Command and Staff College, this course primarily serves to prepare staff officers for deployments in United Nations peacekeeping missions. However, in light of the integrated approach, it is also open to civilian personnel with a background in peacekeeping operations as well as police officers. The training is certified by the United Nations

The training raises the participants’ awareness of potential dangerous situations in the field and teaches techniques and tools for meeting these situations. Through simulation and exercises participants apply what they have learned and practice their behaviour in specific dangerous situations.

Good cooperation and mutual support within the team and between staff members and their superiors are among the prerequisites for ensuring team resilience, a productive working environment and ultimately the successful implementation of the mandate.
