Mediators are working to revive talks for a proposed 90-day humanitarian truce in Sudan led by U.S. Senior Advisor Massad Boulos, but disagreements between the SAF and the RSF continue to stall progress. The SAF is demanding a full RSF withdrawal, while the RSF says the conditions amount to surrender. 

The warning came a day after a deadly reported strike in the village of Ghara al Zawiya in North Darfur state caused dozens of casualties, according to information shared by the UN human rights office, OHCHR. … OCHA said renewed drone attacks in recent days in El Obeid, capital of North Kordofan state, have also put civilians, critical infrastructure and humanitarian operations at risk.

The Sudanese army struck a traditional court in a Rapid Support Forces-held village in North Darfur with drones on Sunday, killing 35 people, a rights group said. Emergency Lawyers said the attack hit Garra al Zawaya as civilians gathered for local court hearings, wounding several others during the afternoon strike.

A National Umma Party (NUP) delegation presented a vision to end the Sudan crisis to the Quintet mechanism in Addis Ababa, the party said on Sunday, defying a boycott decision by its own general secretariat.

The Sudanese army has announced that it has regained full control of a major highway linking the capital, Khartoum, with el-Obeid, a city that has been under siege by the rival paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The capture of Al Sadarat highway on Sunday will help the Sudanese army move troops, weapons, fuel and supplies, and will also block the RSF’s push to seize el-Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan state.

The situation in the besieged city of El Obeid in Sudan is worsening by the day, with rights organizations warning of mass atrocities. Children are traumatized and do not dare go to school.

In an alert on Wednesday, the UN human rights office, OHCHR, highlighted how the country’s warring parties have looted gum arabic and redrawn trading routes so that they can use the proceeds to perpetuate the conflict.

G7 foreign ministers and the European Union's foreign policy chief on Wednesday urged Sudan's Rapid Support Forces and allied armed groups to stop all actions that could lead to further atrocities ⁠or endanger civilians in El-Obeid. They also called on all parties, including the Sudanese army, to cease hostilities, allow aid access and engage in good-faith talks.

The International Criminal Court has made major strides in investigating crimes committed recently in Sudan’s Darfur region — including linking grave crimes against civilians directly with the perpetrators — the Security Council heard today, as its deputy prosecutor described a “breakthrough” marked by her Office’s expanded cooperation and its accelerated interviews with witnesses.

A court in Sudan’s army-controlled city of Port Sudan on Sunday sentenced paramilitary leader Mohamed Hamdan Daglo and 15 others to death in absentia over charges of killing a regional governor and war crimes in Darfur, state media reported.
