Democratisation

The area of democratisation encompasses all measures aimed at building and consolidating democratic institutions and structures at political and societal level. The main areas of activity relating to promoting democratisation are elections, media, rule of law, human rights and building governmental and administrative structures.

You can expect to be involved in the following tasks:

• Strengthening political institutions as well as local and regional government structures;
• Promoting transparency and government accountability (good governance), efficient public administration; reform and democratisation processes in political parties;
• Supporting the development of parliamentary structures;
• Advising on political, economic and societal reform processes;
• Supporting non-governmental organisations and civil society institutions;
• Training and capacity building for political parties and civil servants.
