Economic Reconstruction

Violent conflicts harm the economy and infrastructure of affected countries and regions. This impedes the supply of basic services and the income possibilities of the population. One of the focuses of peace operations is therefore on economic reconstruction. Economic development measures entail programmes that promote the modernisation of industries or investment in the agricultural and private sector. These activities aim to prevent or defuse conflicts by intensifying economic cooperation.
