Maritime Security

Among the tasks of peace operations with maritime components are combatting piracy, human trafficking rings and terrorist groups, protecting maritime traffic and building the capacity of coast guard, navy and relevant criminal justice institutions.

You can expect to be involved in the following tasks:

  • Supporting mandated tasks such as the control of sea routes with regard to arms smuggling, illegal oil exports and possible terrorist threats;
  • Closely cooperating with other security actors such as EUROPOL and INTERPOL;
  • Cooperating with national authorities, shipping companies and humanitarian organisations;
  • Providing support to transport and deliveries of humanitarian supplies;
  • Providing support to capacity building in the area of maritime security;
  • Training navy and coast guard personnel.
