Mediation and Dialogue Support

Experts who are deployed to a peace operation are expected to be able to deal with different kinds of conflicts in a constructive manner and to provide support in the resolution of conflicts. Many missions provide active support to peace processes and participate, either directly or indirectly, in measures that support or help implement peace agreements.

You can expect to be involved in the following tasks:

  • Providing support for mediation processes;
  • Conducting training measures in the area of mediation and dialogue support;
  • Conceptualising and implementing dialogue processes for de-escalation, confidence building, reconciliation and post-conflict rehabilitation;
  • Providing support and assistance for peace processes through mediation and negotiation concepts and techniques;
  • Providing professional support (e.g. methodological, operational) to mediator (teams) and conflict parties;
  • Training colleagues in the area of dialogue and effective communication;
  • Providing support in the organisation and implementation of dialogue formats.
