Dialogue Event on the HDP-Nexus

With the secondment of experts to peace operations and humanitarian missions, ZIF is operating directly at the intersection of humanitarian aid and peace. The current Federal government's coalition agreement emphasizes the relevance of the Humanitarian-Development-Peace (HDP) Nexus, too.  To highlight the important contributions through the HDP-Nexus, ZIF this week hosted a virtual exchange on practical experiences to date and future operationalization of the Nexus approach.

Six panelists – representatives from UN OCHA, the Nexus Academy, from UN Missions in Cameroon and South Sudan, and the UN Department of Peace Operations (UN DPO), as well as a ZIF Secondee to WFP - shared their experiences and perspectives on the HDP Nexus. This was followed by an open discussion among participants, including representatives from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Deutsche Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), and the Federal Foreign Office, on the challenges and opportunities in operationalizing the nexus.
