New project: Strengthening mediation capacities and networking peace promotion

| ZIF news

On January 1, the new third-party funded project “Strengthening Mediation Capacities, Coalescing Peacebuilding” was launched at ZIF. This project continues and expands our long-standing work in the field of peace mediation and expand it to include additional peacebuilding themes and cross-cutting issues. The focus is on strengthening peace-promoting structures and actors through multi-track knowledge transfer.  The aim of the project is to promote holistic conflict management. We want to achieve this by building and expanding mediation expertise, exchanging and further developing peace-promoting approaches, and specifically networking relevant actors at different levels.

ZIF and Peace Mediation

For more than ten years, ZIF has been working in the field of peace mediation in conflict areas and on sustainable conflict resolution. In doing so, we support actors committed to mediation in building and expanding their capacities, thereby strengthening the efficiency and resilience of mediation processes. In recent years, we have established national and international networks, trained numerous diplomats and peace practitioners, and developed new approaches, including in the field of climate-sensitive peace mediation. This work has been complemented by a wide range of workshops, training courses, and exchange formats.

The mediation and peacebuilding project is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and will run until the end of December 2027. It is being implemented in collaboration with project staff members Perle Baillard and Lilian Reichert.
