Reinforcements instead of withdrawal – ZIF ready to deploy more personnel to the OSCE SMM in Ukraine
In light of the tense situation in Ukraine, the German government continues to count on diplomacy and dialogue. The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) plays an important role in this effort – Germany’s contribution to the SMM consists of over 40 Monitoring Officers.
According to latest reports, the German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock is considering to strengthen the contingent of German personnel. The OSCE Monitoring Officers are “the eyes and ears of the international community”. ZIF as the institution responsible for the secondment of German civilian Monitoring Officers is ready to deploy more qualified and experienced personnel to Ukraine.
