ZIF participates at EU Focal Point Meeting Election Observations

On 6 December, representatives of ZIF and the German Federal Foreign Ministry participated in the EU Focal Point Meeting on Election Observation in Brussels. The annual meeting, which is organized jointly by the Election Observation and Democracy Support (EODS), the European Commission and the European External Action Service (EEAS), unites around 30 Focal Points from all over Europe to discuss topical issues surrounding election observation. Next to the Focal Points of the EU member states, representatives from the European Commission’s Service for Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI), the EEAS and EODS also took part in the meeting. This year’s topics were, among others, a review of the missions of the year 2019, the political dimension of election observation, regional training initiatives, evaluation, follow-up election observation missions, trainings as well as developments in the area of social media.
