An increasing number of persons is forced to flee their homes due to war, conflict, natural hazards and the effects of climate change. They may therefore need to temporarily reside in communal shelters.

Where people are displaced or forced to flee, humanitarian assistance seeks to ensure survival in dignity and security and intends to reduce the suffering of those who are in need of protection and support. Assistance is provided regardless of whether a person flees across international borders or seeks protection as internally displaced person in the home country.

One of the most urgent needs in this situation is safe and dignified accommodation. ZIF supports its humanitarian UN partners by deploying experts in order to help providing shelter for displaced persons.   • Several years of professional experience in humanitarian assistance;
  • Sound knowledge of the humanitarian system;
  • Professional experience in refugee and internally displaced persons contexts;
  • Professional experience in an international organisation desired;
  • Knowledge of shelter solutions in urban and rural contexts;
