From October 23 to 27, 2023, ZIF conducted a so-called "In-region training" in Sarajevo on "Team and Conflict Management". The 15 participants were staff members of different international organizations working in the Balkans: among them the OSCE Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the EU Mission EULEX and the International Organization for Migration (United Nations). ZIF does not only conduct its trainings in Germany, but also travels to other countries to train and educate mission personnel on site.

In addition to good communication between possible actors in a mission (military, police, civilian experts), the course focused on strategies for conflict resolution, confidence building and motivation of an international team. Peace operations often face similar challenges across locations and organizations. This includes fostering a positive and supportive working environment given the difficult circumstances in which missions are most often conducted.

The training took place under the European Union Civilian Training Initiative (EUCTI), an EU project that funds cross-mission courses from national training institutions.
