ZIF trains EULEX Kosovo mission leadership
In-Mission-Training EULEX Kosovo Mai 2026
What skills do leaders need to successfully manage teams in international peace operations? This question was at the heart of an In-Mission Training on Team and Conflict Management, which ZIF delivered in May for leadership of the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX Kosovo) in Prishtina.
The 3.5-day training was designed for mission managers and provided practical approaches to constructive conflict management and the development of high-performing and resilient teams.
Conflict as Part of Effective Teamwork
International peace operations often operate in complex and demanding environments. Diverse professional backgrounds, cultural perspectives and heavy workloads can make teamwork challenging – while at the same time offering significant opportunities.
“Conflict is a natural part of collaboration. When addressed constructively, it can foster innovation, bring different perspectives to the surface and strengthen joint problem-solving,” said Predrag Tapavicki, Head of Team Trainings at ZIF. “Team and conflict management skills are therefore essential for successful mission performance.”
A Practical Training for Mission Leaders
Throughout the training, participants explored the causes of interpersonal conflict in mission settings and reflected on personal factors that influence trust, motivation and well-being within teams.
Further sessions focused on active communication methods and practical tools to help leaders identify conflicts at an early stage, address them constructively and harness their positive potential for teamwork and mission effectiveness.
Contributing to the Professionalisation of Civilian Crisis Management Missions
The training was delivered within the framework of the European Union Training Initiative (EUTI). The project aims to provide demand-driven, high-quality and standardised training courses for personnel serving in civilian European Union missions across Europe.
