Start of the 5th German-Swiss Mediation Training for Diplomats

From 12 to 17 June, ZIF is organizing for the a five-day training course on peace mediation and mediation support for diplomats from Germany and Switzerland, as well as Finland and Sweden. The course is hosted by the Peace and Human Rights Division within the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA/PHRD) and the Division for Crisis Prevention, Stabilization and Peace Building within the Directorate-General S at the German Federal Foreign Office (FFO/S03) in cooperation with ZIF, the Initiative Mediation Support Deutschland (IMSD) and the Swiss Mediation Support Project (MSP).

The training aims at conveying in-depth knowledge and practical insights into relevant methods and aspects of peace mediation and mediation support. A special focus is placed on interactive learning and the immediate application of instruments on real case scenarios, such as Burundi. Several internationally renowned mediation experts, among them Herbert Salber, Julian Hottinger, Annika Söder, Christian Schoenenberger, Tom Koenigs and Hajo Gießmann will share their vast knowledge and experiences with the participants.
