ZIF World Map of Peace Operations 2022/23 published

The new edition of our well-known world map of peace operations provides up-to-date information and figures on missions of the UN, EU, OSCE and other organisations, as well as on the respective German participation of the Bundeswehr, police and civilian experts.

Compared to the previous year, the total number of peace operations personnel has increased minimally (+1%), but the number of civilian personnel has decreased (-10%). This is mainly due to the termination of the Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) in Ukraine, which was by far the largest OSCE operation. Despite this development, ZIF was able to keep the number of German experts on secondment more or less constant. About 90 are currently working in the field and about 70 in the headquarters of various organisations as well as in humanitarian missions.
