Suspected Islamist militants killed at least 26 people in an attack in the town of Oicha in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo on Monday night, the mayor said on Tuesday. He attributed the killings to the Allied Democratic Forces, or ADF, a Ugandan armed group based in eastern Congo that has pledged allegiance to Islamic State and launches frequent attacks.
The working rules for East African Community Regional Forces (EACRF) in the Democratic Republic of Congo are going to be tougher if the US gets the support it seeks from the United Nations Security Council for its proposals.
The Security Council today adopted a presidential statement on the Democratic Republic of the Congo, commending the stabilizing actions of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) and reiterating its call on all parties to continue their efforts to ensure full cooperation with it.
