UN pressing for release of staff detained in Yemen

The UN human rights office (OHCHR) remains “extremely worried” for the well-being of 13 UN staff and a number of NGO employees arbitrarily detained in Yemen, spokesperson Jeremy Laurence said on Tuesday, demanding their unconditional release.

Security Council extends mandate of UNMHA for 12 months,

The Security Council today decided to extend, until 14 July 2025, the mandate of the United Nations Mission to Support the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA), which was established on 16 January 2019 following intra-Yemeni peace consultations held in Stockholm, Sweden.

Leaders of UN and aid groups urge immediate release of 17 staffers being held by Yemen’s rebels

The heads of six U.N. agencies and three international humanitarian organizations issued a joint appeal Thursday to Yemen’s Houthi rebels for the immediate release of 17 members of their staff who were recently detained along with many others also being held by the Iranian-backed group.

Red Sea: German frigate sets sail to join planned EU mission

The German navy frigate "Hessen" set sail on Thursday from the North Sea port of Wilhelmshaven toward the Red Sea to join a planned European Union mission to protect ships from Houthi attacks. … Officials said the frigate is on the way with around 240 staff on board, with the aim of having it in place once the EU and German parliament greenlight the mandate for the mission.

US, Britain launch new joint strikes on Houthis
