Putin announces three-day Russian ceasefire in Ukraine from 8 May

Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced a temporary ceasefire for the war in Ukraine. The Kremlin said the ceasefire would run from the morning of 8 May until 11 May - which coincides with victory celebrations to mark the end of World War Two.

Trump urges Russia to stop attacks, says Zelenskiy might cede Crimea

US President Donald Trump said on Monday he believed Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky was prepared to cede Crimea to Russia as part of a ceasefire deal, as truce talks entered what Washington called a critical phase. Trump urged Vladimir Putin to "stop shooting" and agree to end the war sparked by Russia’s 2022 invasion.

Trump slams Zelensky for refusing to recognise Russian control of Crimea

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday lashed out at Ukraine's president, saying Volodymyr Zelensky is prolonging the “killing field” after refusing to recognise Crimea as part of Russia. The proposal was part of a peace plan by the US, but Zelensky has repeatedly ruled out ceding territory to Russia in any deal.

Putin says he is open to direct peace talks with Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed on Monday bilateral talks with Ukraine for the first time since the early days of the war, and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Kyiv was eager to discuss a halt to attacks on civilian targets.

US hails 'encouraging reception' for peace framework from Europeans, Ukraine

U.S. President Donald Trump's top envoys met with European powers and Ukraine in Paris on Thursday to push efforts to end Russia's war in Ukraine, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio said a U.S. peace framework received an "encouraging reception." Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy's office called the talks constructive and positive, while Trump said Ukraine and the U.S. could sign a minerals and economic cooperation deal he has cast as repayment for military aid as soon as next week.

UN denounces deadly Palm Sunday attack in Ukraine

Beijing warns against 'irresponsible remarks' on Chinese nationals deployed in Ukraine

China sternly warned parties in the Ukraine war on Thursday not to make “irresponsible remarks” after Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Beijing knew its citizens were fighting alongside Russia in the conflict. Zelensky said on Wednesday that Kyiv had information on 155 Chinese nationals recruited by Russia.
