Operation launched to rid the country of rebels

At least 50 killed in armed group attack on villages in CAR: UN

More than 50 people were reportedly killed in an attack by an armed group on several villages in the Central African Republic's (CAR) volatile northwest near the border with Chad, the United Nations said on Thursday. … The government issued an ultimatum to the leader of an armed rebel group known as 3R - which initially formed in 2015 to protect the minority Puehl population from attacks by mostly Christian Anti-balaka militias - calling on him to hand over those responsible.

Truth and reconciliation commission announced

Central African Republic Prime Minister, Firmin Ngrébada, on May 11, 2019 announced the creation of a fund to cater for victims of the crisis plaguing the country since 2013, Radio Ndeke Luka reported. Speaking on the occasion of the fourth National Day for Victims of the Central African Republic Conflict, the PM said the move was part of efforts to ensure lasting peace in the country. Similarly, a Truth, Justice, Reparation and Reconciliation Commission will soon see the light of day in line with the February 5, 2019 Khartoum, Sudan Peace Accord between the CAR government and representatives of 14 armed groups.

Peace accord - partners push for rapid implementation

CAR arms embargo - UN Security Council lists steps for review
