Donald Trump said Monday that he would speak to Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky and Russia's Vladimir Putin to end the "carnage" of almost three years of war, as the Kremlin leader lauded Russian army successes on the ground.

Use frozen Russian assets to aid Ukraine, says EU’s top diplomat

Billions of Russian state funds frozen in the European Union should be used to aid Ukraine, the EU’s top diplomat has said. Kaja Kallas, the EU’s high representative for foreign affairs and security, told the Guardian and four other European newspapers that Ukraine had a legitimate claim for compensation and that Russian assets held in the EU were “a tool to pressure Russia”.

Macron, Tusk to discuss EU peace force for Ukraine amid diplomatic surge

French President Emmanuel Macron and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk will discuss the deployment of a postwar peacekeeping force in Ukraine when the two meet in Warsaw on December 12, according to two media outlets, the latest sign of a surge in diplomacy to end Europe's biggest war in decades.

Council extends mandate of EU Military Assistance Mission for two years

The Council today adopted a decision extending the mandate of the European Union Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine) for a further two years, until 15 November 2026, with a budget allocation of nearly €409 million for the period from 14 November 2024 to 15 November 2026. … In line with today’s decision, EUMAM Ukraine will cooperate with NATO, in particular the NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU), and exchange information with the latter in a transparent, reciprocal and inclusive manner.

South Korea 'not ruling out' sending weapons directly to Ukraine

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol said on Thursday that the major arms exporter is "not ruling out" breaking from its policy of not providing weapons to countries in conflict by supplying arms to Ukraine, after recent reports suggesting North Korean troops could be preparing to fight for Russia in its war against Ukraine.
