Ethnic clashes at UN site in South Sudan kill at least 13 people

A local representative says at least 13 people are dead and 21 have been wounded in clashes at a United Nations site in South Sudan for the protection of displaced civilians. The fighting erupted Thursday morning in the Malakal site between members of the Shilluk and Nuer ethnic groups.

Violence against civilians ticks up despite fall in attacks overall

Security Council extends mandate of UNMISS

President Kiir sacks ministers

South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir on Wednesday sacked Foreign Affairs minister, Mayiik Ayii Deng without giving reasons. … His removal comes barely a week after Kiir fired the Defence minister Angelina Teny and Interior minister Mahmoud Solomon through a presidential directive.
