CAR says border nation bombed its troops and Russian allies

The Central African Republic threatened Monday to take reprisals after an aircraft flew in from a neighboring country in the middle of the night and bombed CAR troops and their Russian paramilitary allies.

UN chief strongly condemns airfield attack which left one peacekeeper dead

Security Council extends mandate of MINUSCA for one year

[…] Adopting resolution 2659 (2022) (to be issued as document S/RES/2659(2022)) by a vote of 12 in favour to none against, with 3 abstentions (China, Gabon, Russian Federation), the Council — acting under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations — decided to maintain MINUSCA’s current troop levels of up to 14,400 military personnel, 3,020 police personnel and 108 corrections officers.

MINUSCA support ‘decisive’ in security operations to protect civilians

Support from UN peacekeepers serving with the mission in the Central African Republic, MINUSCA, has proven decisive in protecting civilians alongside Government efforts and amid widespread continuing insecurity, said the UN Special Representative for the country on Wednesday, briefing the Security Council.
